Investment Banking Analyst

Position summary:

Bloom Burton is seeking a full-time Investment Banking Analyst to join Canada’s most active healthcare corporate finance and investment banking team in Toronto, Ontario. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about the capital markets and healthcare to play a key role in a high performing and growing team. The successful candidate will work closely with our investment banking professionals in all aspects of the corporate finance function at Bloom Burton to help deliver the highest quality advice and transaction execution to our clients. Start date is flexible, but the position is available immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Source, review, organize and interpret financial data;
  • Create client pitches, management presentations and other transaction related documents;
  • Develop financial models and valuations for M&A, financing scenarios or other transactions based on discounted cash flow, comparables and related methods;
  • Conduct due diligence, including fundamental industry qualitative and quantitative analysis;
  • Assist with process execution for both M&A and financing transactions, including liaising with external legal counsel and other counterparties; and
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of co-op and summer analysts.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business or life sciences with up to 3 years of relevant work experience;
  • An ardent and long-term interest in investment banking;
  • Exceptional integrity, ethics and maturity along with an ability to interact with colleagues and clients with the highest professional standards;
  • Experience performing financial and valuation analysis in Microsoft Excel;
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal;
  • High attention to detail and commitment to the highest quality work product;
  • Proven time management skills to facilitate the completion of multiple tasks in parallel in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment;
  • Willingness to learn and high intellectual curiosity; and
  • A graduate degree (Masters, MBA, PhD, PharmD, MD), in-process or completed CFA or similar professional designation, healthcare academic background or prior professional experience is an asset but not required.
