Junior Accountant

Position Summary:

Bloom Burton is seeking a full-time Junior Accountant to join the financial operations team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about accounting and finance. The successful candidate will work closely with our Chief Financial Officer and Accounting & Finance Manager to provide support on the accounting and financial reporting functions at Bloom Burton. The full-time junior accountant position reports directly to the Accounting & Finance Manager. Start date is flexible, but the position is available immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets including:
    • Preparing asset and liability account entries;
    • Prepare depreciation schedules for fixed assets;
    • Calculate and maintain prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and deferred taxes;
    • Deposit and send payments while validating the appropriate documentation;
  • Analysis of financial statements and trial balances for subsidiary companies;
  • Monitor and track investments, and record monthly gains/losses using the appropriate accounting treatment;
  • Process and reconcile bank accounts and intercompany transactions;
  • Calculate and prepare the appropriate tax remittance forms on monthly/quarterly/annual basis;
  • Process employee expense reimbursements;
  • Prepare weekly/monthly documents as requested by the Accounting & Finance Manager or CFO;
  • Monitor and track expenses incurred for various Bloom Burton events;
  • Abide by the internal control procedures to ensure financial security.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of Post-Secondary degree/diploma in Business or Accounting;
  • Working towards obtaining their Canadian CPA designation;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks considered an asset;
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Strong teamwork skills;
  • High level of organizational skills and strong attention to detail;
  • Willingness to learn.
